​Optical Requirements

• Optical clarity >99% (ASTM D1003)
• Haze of <10% (ASTM D1003)
• Color shall be a neutral grey
• No optical angular distortion
• 99% UV blocking
• 75% or greater heat rejection
• Visible Light Transmission of 3%-6%

Other Requirements

Environmental

• UV resistant per ASTM G155
• Lens shall have no discoloration or fading
• Lens shall have no brittleness or cracking
• Lens shall have no surface chalking
• Lens shall not exhibit any reduction in impact strength or flexural strength.

Temperature Resistance (Spec TBD)

• Lens shall withstand temperature variation from -40C to 85C
• Lens shall not warp or deform at any point in the temperature curve.
• Lens shall not delaminate or crack at any point in the temperature curve.

Humidity (95% RH at 60C for 24-72 hrs)

• Lens shall withstand the test conditions of MIL-STD-810
• Lens shall not warp or deform at any point during humidity test
• Lens shall not delaminate or crack at any point during humidity test.

Abrasion resistance
• ASTM D1044/D1003:
Lens shall withstand taber abrasion test (500 cycles, 500gm load with CS10F wheel) with <7% haze
Lens shall withstand 0000 Steel wool 2 P.S.I., 10 double rubs, with no damage.
Chemical resistance
ASMT D-1308:

• Lens shall be resistant to benzene, toluene, xylene, acetone, and ethyl acetate with no damage.
• Lens shall withstand cotton ball test: 30 minutes with gasoline, antifreeze, brake fluid, and diesel fuel with no damage.

Flammability
FMVSS 302:

• Materials must not burn at a rate exceeding 102 mm/min (4 inches per minute) when tested in a horizontal position.
